What do you look for in a blog? Do you have a favorite blogger that you consistently follow? Or do you search blog sites for interesting topics with good content? With more than 500 million blogs (How Many Blogs Are There?, 2019) to choose from, rest assured, YOUR perfect blog match is out there; you need only look.
I am drawn to blogs that have an intimate tone; the kind of posts that read like a journal. That is also my favorite approach to blogging—journal style. Whiles journaling is primarily about getting my thoughts, feelings, experiences, and ideas out of my head and heart and onto paper—an experience I describe as “lonely” in my first blog, blogging involves YOU…the reader and how you relate to what I share; a quality that makes my blogging experience exciting and energizing.
Blogging can be viewed as a type of friends with benefits relationship in that the writer and reader have a unique opportunity to know and be known, intimately, without the responsibility of a committed relationship. Readers who follow bloggers may not read every post or even leave a comment on their favorite posts, but both reader and blogger feel a sense of connection and common interest.
If you are a blogger reading this post, always write the kind of blog you would want to read. If you are here looking for a good blogger to follow (and this is not your cup of tea) I encourage you to keep searching! There are at least 499 million other blogs out there to choose from, your favorite is bound to show up soon.
Another thoughtful piece…really enjoy your writing!
Early on in any endeavor, just set a finite time goal of your choosing… let’s say 1 year… and simply promise yourself that regardless of the feedback, how you feel, the number of comments or “likes”….etc…you are committed to putting your head down and freely writing throughout that period. You have talent…and you are tenacious. Drive on!

When starting out, that’s a thought that’s always quite crippling: What will people think of my writing? Will anyone like what I am writing about? You have addressed this very concern. Thank you for your kind words.
